Community Guidelines

Fenrid exists so people can communicate, create, and build communities without being exploited as an advertising product.

That only works if users can participate without being threatened, deceived, harassed, exploited, or exposed to illegal content.

These Community Guidelines apply across Fenrid and form part of our Terms of Service.

The standard

Do not use Fenrid to harm, exploit, deceive, threaten, or unlawfully target another person.

Use good judgment. Respect consent and boundaries. Do not turn technical ability, community authority, popularity, anonymity, or access to private information into a weapon.

1. Where these rules apply

These rules apply to all user-controlled areas and activity on Fenrid, including:

• direct messages;
• community servers and channels;
• voice, video, and screen sharing;
• profiles, usernames, biographies, statuses, avatars, and banners;
• server names, roles, emojis, stickers, and invitations;
• events and giveaways;
• bots, webhooks, and integrations;
• files, embeds, links, and external media;
• attempts to organize prohibited conduct outside Fenrid.

A Server may create rules stricter than these Guidelines, but never more permissive.

Context matters. We consider intent, severity, likelihood of harm, audience, pattern of behavior, and whether content is educational, documentary, condemning, satirical, or self-referential.

"It was a joke" does not automatically excuse harmful conduct.

2. Building a healthy community

Good communities:

• make their local rules clear;
• use moderation tools instead of organizing retaliation;
• respect blocks and requests to stop contact;
• label distressing or mature topics;
• protect member privacy;
• avoid dogpiling;
• make reasonable space for disagreement;
• remove people who create serious safety risks;
• report platform-wide violations to Fenrid.

Challenge ideas without treating people as targets.

3. Harassment, threats, and targeted abuse

Do not harass, bully, threaten, stalk, or coordinate abuse against a person or group.

Prohibited conduct includes:

• repeated hostile contact after a person asks you to stop;
• evading a block to continue contact;
• following someone across Servers or platforms to target them;
• threats of violence, sexual violence, exposure, firing, swatting, or other harm;
• coordinated dogpiles, raids, or humiliation campaigns;
• sexual harassment or unwanted sexual messages;
• encouraging suicide, self-harm, or violence against a target;
• blackmail, coercion, or threats to release private information;
• using moderation powers to punish personal disagreements or rejected advances.

Criticism, disagreement, parody, and public-interest discussion are not automatically harassment. They may become harassment when combined with threats, private information, targeted repetition, intimidation, or coordinated abuse.

4. Hateful conduct

Do not attack, dehumanize, threaten, or advocate discrimination against people based on protected characteristics such as:

• race, ethnicity, caste, or national origin;
• religion or religious identity;
• sex, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation;
• disability or serious medical condition;
• age;
• immigration status;
• another characteristic protected by applicable law.

Prohibited conduct includes:

• calls for violence, segregation, exclusion, or denial of rights;
• claims that a protected group is subhuman, inherently criminal, diseased, or deserving of harm;
• slurs or degrading stereotypes used to target or intimidate;
• praise or support for atrocities against protected groups;
• targeted outing, deadnaming, or misgendering used to harass;
• promoting coercive attempts to change a person's sexual orientation or gender identity.

We generally allow:

• good-faith discussion of policy, religion, history, culture, or research;
• reporting or documenting hateful conduct;
• counterspeech and condemnation;
• self-referential or reclaimed language used by members of the relevant group;
• fictional, educational, artistic, or satirical content that does not promote real-world hatred.

We examine whether the purpose and likely effect are discussion or harm.

5. Violence, graphic content, and dangerous acts

Do not threaten, glorify, instruct, or organize real-world violence.

Prohibited conduct includes:

• credible threats or incitement;
• instructions intended to help commit violent harm;
• praise or celebration of a recent violent attack;
• content intended to recruit people into violent activity;
• graphic depictions of real death, mutilation, torture, or severe injury shared for shock, celebration, or harassment;
• animal cruelty content shared to celebrate or encourage abuse;
• dangerous challenges likely to cause serious injury.

News, documentary, historical, medical, or educational material may be permitted when appropriately framed and not used to glorify harm. Graphic material may still be restricted or removed, especially where warnings and audience controls are inadequate.

6. Terrorism and violent extremism

Do not use Fenrid to support, praise, recruit for, fund, coordinate, or provide operational assistance to terrorist or violent extremist organizations or activity.

Prohibited conduct includes:

• propaganda or recruitment;
• praise for attacks or attackers;
• instructions designed to facilitate attacks;
• fundraising or resource support;
• distribution of manifestos for promotional purposes;
• coded evasion intended to continue support.

Journalism, research, counterspeech, documentation, and discussion intended to understand or condemn extremist activity may be allowed with clear context.

7. Sexual safety and protection of minors

Protection of minors is non-negotiable.

Never share, request, create, threaten to share, sell, trade, or link to:

• child sexual abuse material;
• sexual or nude imagery of a person under 18;
• AI-generated, drawn, animated, or fictional sexual content depicting an identifiable or unmistakable minor;
• sexualized depictions of minors;
• content created through grooming, coercion, trafficking, or exploitation;
• instructions for finding or evading detection of child sexual abuse material.

Do not:

• groom a minor;
• ask a minor for sexual content;
• engage a minor in sexual roleplay;
• sexualize a minor's body or development;
• encourage a minor to move to a secret platform for sexual contact;
• threaten a minor with exposure or sextortion;
• misrepresent your age to pursue sexual contact with a minor;
• allow or encourage a minor to distribute sexual content.

If age is uncertain, do not sexualize the person or request sexual content.

Fenrid may preserve evidence and report apparent child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, law enforcement, or another appropriate authority.

Adult sexual content

Sexually explicit content involving consenting adults is allowed only where Fenrid provides a dedicated age-restricted feature and the content complies with law and local Server rules.

Where appropriate age controls are unavailable, explicit sexual content is not permitted.

The following are always prohibited:

• non-consensual intimate imagery;
• sexual deepfakes created or shared without consent;
• hidden-camera sexual content;
• sexual extortion;
• trafficking or commercial sexual exploitation;
• content involving unconscious or incapable persons;
• bestiality;
• sexual violence presented as real or non-consensual;
• incest content where prohibited by law;
• sexual content used to harass an unwilling recipient.

8. Self-harm and crisis content

Do not encourage, glorify, instruct, pressure, or challenge someone to engage in suicide, self-harm, starvation, purging, or another serious form of self-injury.

Do not share:

• methods designed to make self-harm more effective;
• competitive or celebratory self-harm content;
• suicide notes used to romanticize death;
• targeted messages telling someone to kill or harm themselves.

Supportive discussion is allowed, including:

• asking for help;
• recovery communities;
• harm-minimization information;
• personal experiences discussed without encouragement;
• crisis resources;
• compassionate intervention.

Fenrid is not an emergency service. If someone appears to be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or an appropriate crisis service.

Fenrid may disclose limited information in a credible emergency where permitted by law and reasonably necessary to protect life.

9. Illegal and regulated activity

Do not use Fenrid to commit, coordinate, facilitate, or profit from illegal activity.

Prohibited conduct includes:

• trafficking illegal drugs, weapons, explosives, or stolen goods;
• human trafficking or sexual exploitation;
• money laundering;
• fraud, identity theft, or document forgery;
• selling stolen accounts, payment information, credentials, or personal data;
• instructions specifically intended to evade law enforcement while committing a crime;
• illegal gambling or unlicensed wagering;
• trafficking protected wildlife or illegal materials;
• arranging violence or other serious crime.

Discussion of laws, harm reduction, public policy, journalism, or fictional scenarios is not automatically prohibited. The line is crossed when content materially facilitates unlawful conduct.

10. Cybersecurity abuse

Fenrid supports legitimate security learning and research. It does not support attacking people or systems.

Do not:

• distribute malware, ransomware, spyware, stealers, or botnet tools for malicious use;
• phish for credentials or tokens;
• steal sessions, cookies, encryption keys, or Accounts;
• conduct or coordinate denial-of-service attacks;
• obtain unauthorized access;
• sell or publish stolen databases;
• distribute exploits with the intent to compromise real targets;
• operate command-and-control infrastructure;
• use Fenrid webhooks, bots, files, or links to infect or deceive users;
• bypass Fenrid security controls or help others evade enforcement;
• threaten to attack a person, Server, company, or service.

Allowed activity may include:

• authorized penetration testing;
• capture-the-flag competitions;
• defensive tools;
• responsible vulnerability disclosure;
• malware analysis in controlled educational contexts;
• academic or professional security discussion;
• code shared with safeguards and a legitimate defensive purpose.

Authorization, purpose, target, and realistic risk determine how borderline cases are assessed.

11. Privacy violations

Do not expose, obtain, or misuse private information without authorization.

Prohibited conduct includes:

• doxxing;
• publishing home addresses, live locations, private phone numbers, credentials, financial data, medical records, or government identification;
• aggregating technically public information to enable harassment or physical targeting;
• threatening to expose someone's identity, sexuality, gender identity, immigration status, or private communications;
• sharing leaked private messages to harass or extort;
• non-consensual tracking or surveillance;
• recording private calls where consent or law requires permission;
• selling or trading personal data;
• obtaining data through deception, malware, or unauthorized access.

Public-interest reporting may be permitted where disclosure is lawful, proportionate, and not primarily intended to harass or endanger.

12. Scams, impersonation, and deceptive conduct

Do not deceive people for money, access, influence, or personal information.

Prohibited conduct includes:

• phishing and fake login pages;
• fake giveaways, investments, jobs, support agents, or payment requests;
• impersonating Fenrid staff;
• impersonating another person or organization in a misleading way;
• romance, marketplace, cryptocurrency, or advance-fee scams;
• fake evidence used to frame another person;
• manipulating payment disputes or chargebacks;
• deceptive referral or promotional activity;
• coordinated fake reviews or engagement.

Parody and fan Accounts are allowed when clearly identified and unlikely to mislead a reasonable person.

13. Spam, raids, and platform manipulation

Do not interfere with other users' ability to use Fenrid.

Prohibited conduct includes:

• unsolicited bulk messages;
• mass mentions or invitations;
• repetitive promotional posting;
• coordinated raids;
• fake engagement;
• automated Account creation;
• referral fraud;
• ban or rate-limit evasion;
• abusive scraping;
• API or webhook abuse;
• malicious link obfuscation;
• using many Accounts to manipulate giveaways, discovery, reactions, votes, or limits;
• purchasing, selling, or trading Accounts;
• exploiting bugs for Credits, payments, permissions, or unfair advantage.

Reasonable bots and automation are allowed only when authorized, transparent where appropriate, and compliant with technical limits.

14. Misleading media and harmful falsehoods

Fenrid is not a general truth-policing service. People may be wrong, disagree, speculate, satirize, or debate controversial subjects.

We act where deceptive or false content creates a serious and foreseeable risk of harm, such as:

• fake emergency instructions during an active crisis;
• fabricated evidence used to frame a person for a crime;
• false medical claims used to sell a dangerous product or discourage urgent care;
• deceptive impersonation of public authorities or Fenrid staff;
• manipulated sexual imagery;
• coordinated deception intended to suppress lawful voting or access to essential services;
• deepfakes used for fraud, extortion, or targeted harassment.

AI-generated or edited content is not prohibited merely because it is synthetic. It is prohibited when it violates another rule or is presented deceptively in a way likely to cause serious harm.

15. Intellectual-property violations

Do not use Fenrid primarily to distribute content you know you do not have the right to share.

Prohibited conduct includes:

• operating piracy-focused Servers;
• selling stolen creative work;
• repeatedly sharing infringing material after valid notices;
• removing ownership information to pass work off as your own;
• distributing paid content or software without authorization.

Fair use, quotation, criticism, remix, commentary, preservation, and other lawful exceptions remain subject to applicable law and context.

16. Abuse of reporting and enforcement systems

Do not submit knowingly false or manipulated reports.

Do not:

• mass-report someone to silence lawful speech;
• fabricate screenshots or evidence;
• threaten to report someone unless they comply with a demand;
• impersonate a rights holder or authority;
• use appeals to harass staff;
• expose confidential report information;
• retaliate against a good-faith reporter.

A report that is ultimately unsubstantiated is not automatically abusive. The rule targets bad faith.

17. Server Owner and moderator responsibilities

Server Owners and moderators have additional responsibilities because their choices affect other users.

They must:

• publish clear local rules where appropriate;
• use permissions and moderation tools responsibly;
• act on credible risks to minors;
• remove prohibited content they become aware of;
• prevent raids, scams, and coordinated abuse originating from their Server;
• protect member information;
• use age-restricted features correctly;
• avoid conflicts of interest when handling reports;
• cooperate with Fenrid during serious safety investigations;
• avoid concealing evidence or warning offenders in a way that creates further harm.

A Server may be restricted or removed where its purpose, leadership, or repeated pattern of activity violates these Guidelines, even if individual posts are distributed across many users.

Moderators are not required to resolve every interpersonal disagreement. They are expected to respond reasonably to serious safety and platform-wide violations.

18. Reporting violations

Use Fenrid's in-product reporting tools when available.

A report should identify:

• the relevant message, user, Server, channel, or content;
• the rule you believe was violated;
• enough context to understand what happened;
• immediate safety concerns.

When a direct message is end-to-end encrypted, submitting a report may send a decrypted copy of the reported content and limited surrounding context from your device to Fenrid.

Do not place yourself in danger to collect evidence. Do not redistribute illegal content in order to report it.

For a credible immediate threat, contact local emergency services. Fenrid support is not an emergency response service.

19. Enforcement

Fenrid considers:

• severity;
• intent;
• context;
• actual and likely harm;
• whether minors are involved;
• whether conduct is repeated;
• abuse of authority or power imbalance;
• prior enforcement history;
• attempts to conceal or evade;
• cooperation and corrective action.

Possible actions include:

• education or warning;
• content removal;
• feature restrictions;
• rate limits;
• temporary safety locks;
• loss of Server or moderation privileges;
• Server restriction or deletion;
• temporary suspension;
• permanent Account termination;
• device or network restrictions;
• evidence preservation;
• reports to child-safety organizations or authorities.

Severe violations may result in immediate permanent action.

Fenrid may act on conduct outside Fenrid where it creates a direct and serious risk to Fenrid users, such as organizing a raid, publishing stolen Fenrid credentials, or making a credible threat against a user.

Where reasonably possible and safe, an enforcement notice will explain the rule and action. Some details may be withheld to protect reporters, minors, security systems, investigations, or legal obligations.

20. Appeals

You may appeal an Account, Server, or content enforcement decision by:

• replying to the enforcement notice; or
• emailing [email protected] from the email connected to the affected Account.

Include:

• the action you are appealing;
• why you believe it was incorrect or disproportionate;
• relevant context or evidence.

Submit an appeal within 60 days of the notice where possible.

Each action normally receives one appeal review. Duplicate messages do not speed up review. We may reconsider a final decision if genuinely new and material information becomes available.

Temporary safety restrictions may remain active during review.

Where applicable law gives you additional complaint, court, regulatory, or out-of-court dispute rights, these Guidelines do not remove them.

21. Changes to these Guidelines

Fenrid may update these Guidelines as features, threats, community needs, or legal obligations change.

Material changes will be described in the Policy Changelog and communicated before taking effect where reasonably practicable or legally required.
